The pedals are the same. The gear shift is on the left and you sit on the right. If you are used to driving stick, you'll do fine. When I got home frome my first driving trip to the UK, I got in my car and promptly slammed my left hand into the driver's door tring to shift. LOL The hardest part is navigation, so if you are driving solo, plot your route out in advance. They don't use route signs as often as we do. Rather, the road sign lists the next larger town. So, I used to right down a list of towns that were along my route. I've circled a round about 2-3 times on occasion to make sure I was going the right way. Pam

Similar to what Pam said, when first driving in Ireland, I usually try to rest my left elbow on the nonexistent window ledge and end up looking like I am doing the chicken dance.

We have visited GB twice. Once with a standard shift and once with an automatic. The automatic was SOOOOO much easier. There is no question it can be done. People do it all the time. It's not that hard. But then again, lots of people would say it's not that hard to talk on a cell phone, eat a sandwich and drive at the same time. But do you really want that person navigating the traffic circle next to you?
