We are travelling to London from Paris via the Eurostar which will bring us to St. Pancras. How do we get from there to Victoria Station? What area of London is the Victoria Station area considered to be? Going to try to find a budget hotel, but have to know the area. Thanks everyone:)
Easy, just take the Victoria tube line to Victoria Station; four stops away. The immediate area near Victoria Station is called the Victoria Station area-very close to Buckingham Palace. I'm not being a wise guy thats what people really call it:) Rick's London guidebook has lots of listings for budget hotels/B&Bs in this area.
For a two-page zoomable map showing Tube lines on one side and central London bus routes on the other, go here: http://tinyurl.com/yvajoz.
Trudy,
The others have sorted out the transportation question. If you're going to be in London for a few days, you might consider buying an Oyster Card. It makes travel on the Tube much easier!
I stayed in a budget Hotel in the Victoria Station area last fall, and would certainly recommend it. Derek's entertaining stories at breakfast made for an interesting visit! Check this for further details. Be sure to check out the Ebury Wine Bar on the corner, and if you want a great Italian meal Santini's is only a short walk (one of Sinatra's favourites!).
Happy travels!
Thanks everyone:
Thanks for all the great information! I was afraid that I might be booking an out of the way location, but this really helps. Thanks for the info on the trains as well.
