Srike To Slow Entry into UK Tomorrow

Some members of the UK Border Agency will strike tomorrow (30 June) as part of a large public sector strike in the UK. Those are the folks that check your passport on arrival, so queues may be long and slow. Departures won't be affected. More here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13953678

I will be affected by this strike. I was told to be practice patience by the airline. I just hope I don't miss my connection.

I wouldn't make light of the strike tomorrow. While miles away from a general strike it is expected to be big. I hope that none of the demonstrations turn nasty.

I guess I do not know if my June 18 arrival at Heathrow was affected by a strike, but it required close to an hour to get through Immigration Control, if it is slower than that, my goodness!

Paul An hour to 90 minutes from touchdown to emerging into landside at Heathrow or Gatwick is not unusual. 60 minutes in the immigration queue seems a little long... how long was the whole process?

Years ago when we used to arrive at Heathrow (about 15-20 years ago- whew, longer than I thought), it usually took us a minimum of an hour in line at passport control. I've heard in recent years that this is still common. I would not be surprized at waits of 2 hours with a "work action" slowdown.

We arrived at Passport Control at Heathrow around 4pm and were through in 10 minutes. Very fast. Though it did take us 45 minutes of standing on the plane until they could open the door to let us out, since there was no gate and we had to wait for buses...
