Southwest Coast Path

On our trip to Devon, Cornwall, and Wales in May 2010, we're considering a few days on the Southwest Coast Path. Can anyone recommend (or warn against) a particular section of the path, for beauty, safety, and stops along the way? We don't want particularly strenuous hikes (the paths between the towns in Cinque Terre were just right), and we do want good pubs and friendly people. We've looked at websites for companies that transfer baggage and/or arrange lodging. Would we be better off planning our own?

The area around Lyme Regis,Charmouth and Bridport in particular "Goldencap" one of the highest areas along the path are all beautiful. Lyme Regis is a small unspoilt town, a good base to start/end.
Further south start in Sidmouth and walk either way, Its truly lovley. My folks live in the SW of England and I walk there a lot. BTW In my opinion as a Brit the month of May sees the UK at its very best without the crowds.
Have fun!
