I mentioned to a friend that I would be in London during the latter half of September, and was planning to spend part of a Saturday at the Portobello Road antique / flea market. He told me of a similar market on the south side of London which he said was much better, but couldn't remember the name of it. He said it was close by the Elephant & Castle tube stop.
Anyone here have any information on this?

It is the Bermondsey Market somewhat near London Bridge train station. I opens very early and I would always take a taxi. Google it and you will find maps.

Also try the one in Whitechapel - Brick Lane market on Sundays. Or the one on Borough High Street in Southwark, Tower Bridge tube stop, south of the Thames.
