I'm a smoker and heard there are additional restrictions on smoking in Britain. Can anyone advise me if smoking is allowed inside hotels or immediately outside ? How about pubs ? Restaurants ?

Last I heard smoking has been banned in all inside building including hotels. Even Eurorail has banned smoking on the train.
Not 100% sure but I think its about the same as it is here in the states.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll assume then I can smoke outdoors only. That'll work.
On July 1st 2007, England introduced a new law to make virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces in England smokefree. A smokefree England ensures a healthier environment, so everyone can socialise, relax, travel, shop and work free from secondhand smoke.
I found it odd when I was there, but it appears that the smoking ban has just moved the pub out onto the sidewalk or street. Makes it difficult to walk past them because you may have to go into traffic to get past. But no fear if you're a smoker, you shall still enjoy the people atmosphere, just in different surroundings.
