Hi! How does one Skype in London? We will not be bringing our own laptop. Do the internet cafe's have Skype loaded?

Internet cafes, especially in London, are slowly dying out. There are some still around, but you're going to have to do out of your way to find them. In terms of Skype, back when they were more plentiful some cafes did have the program installed, some didn't- probobly 50/50 shot. If you're not bringing a laptop, you will be better off buying international phone cards.

Hi Carol, EasyInternetCafe has six different locations in London, and I could give you a list of twenty other cafes in London if needed. They are not hard to find in London.

Goodness, I hope the internet cafe' is not a thing of the past in London. I certainly saw a lot of them when I was there this past spring. They seemed to be in good locations, too. Did I miss something?

Hi Linda, no worriesinternet cafes in London are NOTE DYING OUT. Wrong information given above. There was a post regarding internet cafes earlier this month, and Al from the UK confirmed that the cafes aren't dying out. I know that EasyInternet Cafes has six locations in London plus others all over the UK. Also, on their website they list their locations plus over twenty other cafes in London. EasyInternet cafes are not out of the waythere is one on Kensington High, Trafalgar Square just to name a couple.

Bring your laptop. I brought mine (a small one, a Macbook), and was glad I did. I could have long conversations with my sister and my parents via Skype. The connection from our apartment in South Kensington was clear and without any problems. Our cell phones worked like a champ in London too, though calling from a cell phone was 99 cents a minute.

Hi, I am the orginal poster, and we just got back. There WERE plenty of internet cafe's. We'd just ask a person working at a coffee shop or pub, and were pointed in the right direction. Each one we used had Skype. We did NOT need to buy international phones, we called via skype to personal phones with credit already paid for on skype. All done very very cheaply! Thanks.

Hi Carol, glad to hear your back and that you could find internet cafes. I knew you wouldn't have trouble finding them. The information that Michael gave saying that internet cafes are dying out in London is very wrong. As you found out you can find them all over London. And calling home via Skype is cheap, we have done that.
