We'll be coming back from a ride AROUND the Skellig islands about 5 pm (not landing... with someone who couldn't make the climb). Is it realistic to drive from Cahersiveen to Dingle town that evening? It will be early June, so the days will be long, but I don't want to plan a heroic drive. Thanks for any thoughts!
Sherry, It's not out of the question, but I really wouldn't want to make that drive. Assuming you've had a full day prior to the Skellig trip, you'll be reasonably tired and it's not the best time for a long trip on small roads with declining light. The furthest I'd go would be Killarney or Tralee. Or you could spend the night at Cahersiveen or somewhere else out of the Ring.
Be sure to take something to prevent seasickness on the ride around the Skellig islands. An English couple had taken their version of Dramine called "Sea Legs". We took a Ferry from Dingle to where we were suppose to hop the boat to the Skelligs, but we were both feeling the motion too much to take the ride out to the Skelligs.
