Sites to see.

Hi! I've had some changes in my itinerary for my trip to England in april. Originally we were going to spend 9 days in Cornwall. This has now been changed to 5 days which leaves four days to fill before we return to London. Our trip starts out with 2 days/nights in Bath. From Bath should we go and spend two nights in Glastonbury before we take a train to Cornwall? We would also like to see Tinagel castle so may spend the other 2 nights in Tinagel coming from West Pen With. Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated :-) thanks so much! Bonnie

If you were going by car I would suggest Tintern Abbey in the Wye valley and then the North of Somerst including Dunster. (PS its Tintagel- the castle is remnants of a ruin, worth seeing, but only an hour; the town is 100% tourist - with souvenirs and tea shops- defintely not worth more than another hour).
Or you could do Dorset, to the south, wells cathedral. But as I recall you are trying to do this by train? If so train to Salisbury (not a long journey). See that town, cathedral, Stonehenge, Avebury. Nice part of the country

Brian is right. Aside from Tintagel Castle and the Postoffice there isn't a lot but they will need more that an hour to see. At my advanced age just getting there (to the castle) took that long. Love it and I'm going back in April, but I wouldn't spend two nights there. I like the idea of Glastonbury, enuf that I want to go back one day. We did stay there a couple of nights. What with the Abbey, the Tor , the people watching and the shops..we stayed busy. Abbey Tea Rooms are accross the street from the Abbey.

Laurel gave you some great ideas....I agree with her, Glastonbury would be a great place to visit.

I gather you are interested in the Arthurian legends? If so, besides Tintagel, add Cadbury Castle (actually an earthen fort), Wells Cathedral (Steinbeck stayed in Wells when he wrote his Arthurian book), Dozmary Pool (in Cornwall, good only on an overcast day, however).......We also enjoyed Restormel Castle and Exeter Cathedral, although they don't have any Arthurian connections that I know of.

St. Ives is a favorite of mine. It can be a bit touristy on the high street, but it is a lovely old place, with heart-stopping sea views and just BUCKETS of charm. And if you like handicrafts, etc., it's an awesome place to shop for nice gifts.

Loved the town of Wells about half hour or so from Bath. Rick shows it on one of his videos, check it out. Also, don't miss the free walking tour of Bath, very good information.
