Short term apartment rental

Has anyone rented from a talbayrentals website? What was your opinion? Going to be in London in April (2 retired ladies) and looking for a safe neighborhood and clean apartment. This one looked good on craigslist, but I can't find any references for them.

talbayrentals doesn't come up on Google unless I typed it in incorrectly. Not popping up on Google gives me pause. Go with somewhere that has good recommendations on Tripadvisor like Vancouver Studio Apartments in Bayswater. Stayed there 3 times. Always enjoyed it. Especially the kitchenette.

I have never heard of them and would also be concerned if they didn´t come up on google. I would second the recommendation for Vancouver studios - I stayed in a single for 5 nights in April and while tiny, had everything I needed and the kitchenette was great for my needs - breakfast, tea, coffee and heating up ready made meals. Its location is excellent, the staff are helpful and it is very clean and well run. Free internet. Only caveat - there are lots of stairs so if you have heavy luggage and/or difficulty with stairs, request a studio on one of the lower floors.

You might want to look at this sight for vacation rentals. http://www.vrbo.com/
It helped me find a really nice place in Rome for a week's stay :)

I have also had great experiences using VRBO.com. I used then for London but the rental I wanted was not available. The owner was a company called London Connections out of Salt Lake City and they had another one not listed on VRBO which we rented. It was wonderful and just as advertised. Have a great trip.

Craiglist's list has problem with fraudulent lists of rentals became there is no checking or standards for listing such as VRBO or other listing sites. Doesn't mean you cannot get burned on the other sites but the probability is lower. You need to be able to double check that the properties exists and that the owner owns it. And if it looks too good, it probably is.

For apartments my places to check are:
homelidays.com , holidaylettings.co.uk, holiday-rentals.co.uk and for Germany ferienwohnungen.de. All those websites have really large numbers of listed apartements. I myself used homelidays a couple of times (for instance in Venezia and Wien) - always happy. And apartments are very economic (especially if 3 or more people are traveling together). For 2 it will be expensive, but accommodation in London is a bad bad pain financially. Check the two .uk sites because they have the widest ion. But once accommodation is solved and weekly Travelcard (nightbuses included and from weekly they are getting good value) in the pocket the fun can (and will) begin - in one of the greatest towns on this planet.

I would vouch for VRBO also. My husband and I recently tried airbnb on a visit to Copenhagen and had good success with it also.

I'm leaving soon, and staying in an airbnb apt. in London. I'll try and write about it whan I get back. Try looking on
www.airbnb.com I would definitely avoid craigslist, and look at vrbo or a site with many reviews and photos.
