I have a layover in the Copenhagen airport for 4.5 hours before flying back to the states. Is that enough time to see any of Copenhagen?
What do you guys think? Any ideas?

It depends on how much cash you want to spend. Copenhagen is the most expensive place I've been to in Europe ( including Monte Carlo ).
If you take the train into Copenhagen city centre all you are doing is spending a lot of time on a train, having a very expensive beer and a very expensive meal in an uniteresting part of the city and then back onto the train.
If you take a taxi to the old part of the city, it costs a lot. But at least you get to see a few sights and have a beer and a meal at heart attack prices and then catch a cab back to the airport.
You'll spend more cash in four hours in Copenhagen than you will in two days in Edinburgh.

You need to be at the airport 3hr before flying to the US: there's secondary security screening for US bound flights and they do a very thorough check-in. If your luggage is checked through and you have a boarding pass, you are probably okay allowing 1.5-2 hours.
I would dispute Al - Copenhagen is no more expensive than the UK. Many museums are free and it's free to walk around town. Trains are far cheaper than the UK too. And with the new Metro, you can be in a great part of town 15-20 min. The Metro runs every 5-10 min & costs $5/ticket that will last 1.5 hours or so.
Take the Metro to Kongens Nytorv and you can grab a inexpensive hot dog from the vendors and sit by the harbour. And/or splurge for a beer. You can walk along the water or a bit down the Strøget. There's a 7/11 just Store Kongensgade which sells inexpensive food/drink as well.
I would check with the airline to make sure you have enough time - you don't want to miss your flight!

Most people say the further North you go in Europe the more expensive it gets.
In addition to this site, you should check out www.tripadvisor.com and www.fodors.com. Both have some decent discussions about things to see and do.
As I recall there are two major sites (the Queen's castle and the Government building) plus a lot of smaller ones. You will probably have to pick one of the two and keep the smaller ones in mind in case you have extra time.
I haven't been there yet, so hopefully others can give you better detail.
I was disappointed with Copenhagen. Compared with other Scandinavian cities, it lacks appeal. You may have a problem finding things which interest you there.
Do a google search for "Copenhagen attractions" and read about the city.
Here is a list of five things to do when you have a layover in Copenhange:
