I am needing help finding a 3 night itinerary that will put us back into Dublin at 8am on the 4th day. flying into Shannon. Any suggestions would be great!
With only three days, stay on the west coast and be willing to change accommodations. Day one, drive to Dingletown. Explore the town and the tip of the peninsula. Day two, drive to Kenmare, explore the north side of the Beara peninsula. Overnight in Kenmare. Day three, explore the south side of the Ring of Kerry or take a jaunting car / return by boat tour of the Gap of Dunloe. Drive to Dublin early evening, stay near the airport. Both Dingletown and Kenmare are full of good restaurants and music pubs.
I would not suggest you try to get to Dingle at all on this trip, especially with less than a whole day to see it. Remember, you will be spending some time on arrival at Shannon getting your bags, filling out rental car paperwork, and getting your car. Then it would be around a four hour drive just to get there. I would suggest you spend your first day in the Shannon area. See Bunratty Castle, the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, and stay somewhere near Adare. Then on Day 2 you could see the Killarney area, and/or Kinsale, and stay somewhere on the way to Cashel. Then on Day 3 you could visit Rock of Cashel, and head to Dublin. Are you planning on spending any time in Dublin itself?
