I'm arriving Shannon Airport May 29 at 21:30 and departing Dublin June 1 at 14:00...only 2.5 days. Tkts.non-refundable. Have reserved car at SNN, and would like comment on what's good and feasible to do in the Southwest in order to arrive Dublin by May 31 about 2-3 p.m. I was thinking Cliffs of Moher, then down to Dingle Peninsula (if not all the way to Dingle) via ferry at Killmer/Tarbert on May 30, then head via the south route to Dublin on 31, stopping at Cashel en route. If that is not feasible how about part of the Ring of Kerry? Alternatively I thought of Killarney, although I read it's gotten somewhat commercial. Frommer's mentions Kenmare instead. Should I skip the Cliffs? Can I just go part of the ring to get a flavor and turn around? I'm worried that driving takes much longer than expected. Thanks for any tips.
I personally would not skip the cliffs, think they are majestic. We also definitely like Dingle much better than Ring of Kerry and agree with Cashel. Yes driving may take longer than you plan. You are arriving late in the evening (9:30PM) so would not plan anything that night, just get a good sleep and that really only leaves you two full days and departure day and you need to be at airport at least by noon on June 1 so that is really not a half day. I guess what I am trying to say is to get up early on May 30, cliffs and then Dingle. May 31 down to Cashel and onto Dublin by evening for a good meal before you leave on June .
