My son and I are travelling to Ireland in Nov. We will have a car for a week while renting a farmhouse. If we return the car to the Shannon airport, what is the best way to get to Dublin-take a train? If so, how do you get to the Limerick train station from the airport?

You would have to take a bus to Limerick from the airport. The train doesn't go to Dublin airport, so you will have to get another bus from the Dublin train station to the airport. The train takes a bit over 2 hours. With the added cost of two buses and a train for two, I'm curious why you don't just return the car at the Dublin airport?

I am actually starting to think that way. I guess that the driving makes me nervous. We are going to go and spend 4 days in Dublin after the farmhouseso I am going to see where I can return the car.

The easiest place is going to be the Dublin airport. It's near the motorway on the edge of town. Most companies' lots are outside the actual airport. Then you can get a shuttle to the airport to pick up a bus to town. By the time you drive to Dublin, after you've had the car for a week, you'll be an old hand at it.
