Any recommendations on hotel near Shannon Airport for a place to stay near the departure site? I've booked one called the Bunratty Shannon Shamrock for 39 euro. It seems a tad touristy, but the rate might overcome that. Any other suggestions? Many thanks! pat.

There are numerous B&Bs along the Bunratty Road, behind Bunratty Castle. Bunratty is closer to the airport than Shannon and is a great place for your last night. There is the castle and folk park there, a small shopping center across the road, and an old pub, with great food, called Durty Nelly's. But if you're just staying in the area the one night I'm not sure why it matters of something is "touristy" if it suits your budget better.

I have stayed 4 times coming and going from Shannon in Bunratty.Always in a B&B. They are purpose built and close to the airport.

Hi Patrick,
You didn't say whether or not you'll have a car but I'd consider staying your last night in Ennis. It's less than 30 minutes from the airport, an easy drive, and you can enjoy the pubs in town in the evening.
We stayed at the Grey Gables B & B and enjoyed it very much!

We stayed our first night in Shannon at the Avalon B&B. It's a really nice place, and the owners were wonderful. It was a great introduction to Ireland! It was probably about 10 minutes from the airport.

We'll be staying at the Bunratty Manor Hotel, it's pretty close to the airport - 10 minuet drive. You'll still need to take a taxi, but it's within walking distance to the Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. We paid 99 euros for a delux double (non-smoking). It's also close to Durty Nellys - I hear thats good.
