I am trying to find a week-long rental in or around Dingle in May 2009.
Feedback from anyone with personal experience with particular properties would be much appreciated.
The most difficult part of the search is trying to determine where the properties are located in relation to the town/harbor. We'd like to walk to town if possible.
I did find a promising place located on a canal. any idea if proximity to a canal is a good thing or a smelly thing?

We stayed in a self catering cottage in Ventry outside Dingle last September. We had a car and I assume since you want walking distance you will not have one. Dingle is not large and almost anywhere will be within walking distance. Get the address of cottages and compare to the street map in Rick's book. I do not remember a "Canal" in Dingle. There is a stream runs down the hill to the sea, but I do not remember any smell. There is also a river at the west end of town as you turn to go round the peninsula. You will get the smell of the sea!
If you have transport, let me know and I will give you the URL of the cottage we used - it was ideal. Bigger than one we had in Kinsale and 60% of the price.
