self-catering houses or apartments in southwest Ireland

I am looking for some advice on a self-catering apartment or house in southwest Ireland that would be big enough for 2 couples(4 people) for 5-7 days. I am looking for specific recommendations for Dingle but I am open to other locations as well. We will be in Ireland for 1 week in mid-October and are going to concentrate on southwest Ireland before flying out of Dublin. Our thought was to stay based in 1 location and do day trips. I am very interested in any and all good experiences in a self-catering unit. We would like to be near or in a town for services(pubs, restaurants, groceries etc) but we will have a car so something further out could be considered if it made sense or was unique.

I have looked at alot of websites so I am more interested in personal recommendations based on personal experience and why your experience was so special. Thanks in advance for the help.

We stayed a delightful week in 2005 at: Ballintarmin Self Catering (owner Michael Courtney, lives in next cottage west), Ballintarmin, Annascaul,+353(0) 669157324. Plenty of room for two couples as well as the sheep that stays in the rear yard. Be sure to walk a few blocks toward Dingle to find the blue painted South Pole Pub on your right. See if Alice is still there every night just after Mass. Slainte!

The third night at the South Pole Inn/Pub we were considered locals and included in the joyous song and step dance.A memmorable experience was walking up along the rushing creek just beside the pub that led to idylic Dingle Bay overlooks, a full rainbow and many sheep. We found Annascaul to be just the right distance [a few minutes drive along Inch Beach road] from the summer action in Dingle City.
