Scottish Folk Evenings

My brother and I are leaving for a two week trip to England and Scotland. We were wanting to go to a folk evening in Scotland (Edinburgh or Glasgow) and can't find any information online. Has anyone been to one of these and can you recommend some information about them? We will be leaving next week.

What are you looking for in a folk evening? They can be a bit touristy, and the ones I've known about are in the north. But, if your goal is to hear some traditional music then in Edinburgh, you should think about just going to Sandy's Bells. It's a pub just south of the Royal Mile. They have music sessions every night. I think that some of the pubs on The Royal Mile also have traditional music. If it is live music that you're looking for try the Gig Guide. http://www.gigguide.co.uk/ Also, in Dunkeld, which is north of Perth, another pub, the Music Bar usually has music. Check their website. I've found that they are less likely to have music early in the week.
