Scotland - Trossachs Lodging

Hello all! I am looking for lodging ideas in the Trossachs for two nights in June... any ideas? Relevant information: we'll be driving down from the Isle of Skye by way of Loch Ness, and would like to stay within easy driving distance of Stirling so we can see the sights there one day. Something between there and Lake Katrine would be ideal, but I'm kind of running out of ideas since we're on a budget. We'll be spending two nights in Edinburgh after that, and since it looks like everything convenient there is also pricey, I'm hoping to keep our costs down. We will want to kayak or bike or hike and take lots of pictures. Thank for your help!

How about the Willy Wallace hostel in Stirling? I've never stayed in any, but there's a slew of hotels along the main drag on the Callander/Keltie Bridge stretch.

Start checking Campgrounds...some have rustic cabins...perfect for outdoor enthusiasts...locals might be able to give you more info.

I can tell you one to avoid. It might be above your budget, but I was pulled in by a good rate. It was the Rob Roy Hotel near Aberfoyle. I can see where some might be happy there, but to me it was not what I'm looking for in Scotland. It is just like US motel. Great for someone with accessibility needs. But for me the crowning disappointment was breakfast. Lots of food, but a buffet style, so rather greasy fried eggs and stewed tomatoes, not broiled. I left after one night and went to Stirling. ; ) Sadly, it was not budget. Pam
