Scotland tours

Anybody tried Go Scotland Tours? I am looking for a recommendation or if somebody has had an issue. Their 12- hour tour from Edinburgh through Glencoe, Loch NesInverness and Pitlochry gives a quick glance over a wide spectrum.

Debbie, we've not used Go Scotland Tours; but on our trip to Edinburgh last year we used Highland Experience for two different 1-day tours, and in 2008 we used Highland Explorer for a 2-day trip into the Highlands. We can recommend both.

Debbie, I will admit up front that I am not a fan of these day trip tours of the highlands. For me, you spend too much time on the bus and you have not time to experience the places that you visit. That said, I know that some people have limited time and have places that they think are important to visit. In this particularly tour, it looks like most of the time is on the bus. You travel through the Cairngorms, and finally have a stop at Loch Ness. You'll enjoy that part as that seems to be the only time out of the bus other than a coffee break at Pitlochry It doesn't look like you get to stop at the visitor's center at Glencoe and you certainly will only get a fleeting glimpse of the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle. The later is worth a day drip in and of itself. ; ) What do you want to see in Scotland? Loch Ness in particular, or Scottish Lochs? Spectacular Glens or Glencoe? Some people, have very specific places that they want to go, but if you really just want to see some beautiful Lochs and experience some history, I would go to Stirling and see if you can find a day trip to Loch Katrine in the Trossachs. There is a steamship ride on the Loch--which is MacGregor country that is terrific. Maybe someone has taken the actual tour and can dispute my take on it. Again, I freely admit my bias against long days on buses. Pam
