I'll be taking an 11 day trip to Scotland/N. Ireland/Ireland in August (I know, I know busiest time of year!). My itinerary is up in the air so far but was hoping to do: Fly into Edinburgh either the Thurs or Friday. 1. 2 nights/1 full day for Edinburgh 2. train to Glasgow then 1 night/day in Glasgow 3. train/bus to Stranraer and ferry to Belfast 4. 1-2 days/nights in Belfast/Giants Causeway/Antrim coast
5. Train down to Dublin then Ireland for 5nights/days (after this it's up in the air as I will be staying and travelling with a friend from Dublin so she's in charge!). 6. Fly out of Dublin on the Monday morning. Is my timing ok or should I leave more time for certain places? Would I have time to head up to the Isle of Skye for a night/day, or would this be too difficult? I won't be driving so all travel until Ireland will be done via public transit/buses/trains (and am on a bit of a budget as well!). Thanks!
You really arent giving Scotland much time at all. Given your limited time there- skip Glasgow, very low on the priority list. Do Skye or Highlands or Loch Ness area/near Inverness. I will give you the standard (and very valid) comment on this Board- you are trying to do too much in a very linmited time. Given that you have a friend in Dublin who will help you see some of Eire, why dont you concentrate on Northern and Southen Ireland and leave Scotland for another trip. Scotland deserves at least a full 11 days to truly experience it
