Scotland in 7 Days

We have 7 days in Scotland (not including travel days). We would like to spend three days in Edinburgh, but aren't sure where to go after that. We will not have a car and will be relying on trains and buses (maybe Megabus). Where else would you go? We would like to pick 2 more destinations, preferably with nice natural areas to see and at least a pub or two for night life - maybe a castle.

Thoughts?

There are some very good value Rail rover tickets for scotland.
The rail trip up to Fort William is worth doing, maybe stay over at

You could walk on the easy to follow trail to FortWillaim the following day.
This route passes under the slopes of Ben Nevis, and right by Steall waterfall
Theres quite a few, wigwam campsites scattered about

Edinburg- 2 or 3 days. Train to Aviemore- 1 or 2 days. Train to Innverness- as much time as you can! Innverness is a wonderful place for day trips- Culloden and Clava Cairns, Isle of Sky, Eliean Donnan castle, Glen Coe, Great Glen, even Orkney- though that is a LONG day. Scottish trains are great and very easy to use. We've done it many, many times.

You might want to take the train to Plockton from Inverness. It's a stunningly beautiful train ride and the it's an attractive town to visit.
