Scotland: Fort William to Inverness

I am thinking of taking the sleeper to Fort William and then a bus to Inverness via Loch Ness, etc. Then a train from Inverness to Edinburgh. I am thinking this should be pretty scenic. My question is any one aware if there is another non-driving alternative? Like a ferry from Fort Augusts to Inverness?

The alternative I can think of is to take the bus to Kyle of Lochalsh and then take the train from there to Inverness. The train trip form Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness is one of the most scenic train rides in Scotland if not the UK.
