We'd like to rent a power scooter for my mother while we're in London. I have Rick's Easy Access book but am having trouble locating a rental place. Any suggestions?
As a note, if you are going to be taking cabs, trains or the Tube, you might want to consider the size of the scooter. Trains and buses may not take scooters at all or only if they are below a certain size and there is space. In addition, I don't think a scooter would fit in a cab or be able to handle the tube stations and some of the train stations which only have stairs.

Unless you will have a car or van that accomodates the scooter or she'll just be using it nearby your accomodations, it might be better to go with a wheelchair that can be folded. I'm not sure, but a scooter might also be a hassle in the center of London where the pavements are very crowded and often narrow, but more practical farther out.

You should be able to find more information about what is and isn't accessible to make an informed decision by googling for one of the excellent disability associations in the UK.

Al and Kate: Thanks so much for the help! Kate: Those are great points about the size of the scooter. I was wondering about that myself. The cabs are fairly spacious but probably not large enough to accommodate a scooter.
