Putting together a 1 1/2 week agenda in Scandanavia. Plans to arrive in Denmark 2-3 days, Ferry to Norway (Bergen, fjords, etc) We can then go North (Lillehamer, etc)and come back through Oslo and western Sweden or skip the northern Norway and head to Stockholm before departure out of Copenhagen. My wife and I are definitely more into natural scenery than city life. Any suggestions would be helpful.
First, if possible fly open-jaw in and out of different cities. Makes no sense at all to make a 300 mile trip just to catch a plane.
IcelandAir flies from NYC JFK with good prices and they fly to/from every major Scandinavian city including Bergen.
So I would fly into Oslo, stay 2 days then head for the fjords and then fly home from Bergen. Nothing against Copenhagen, but Stockholm is much prettier - the kind of city that could make people who don't like cities like this one - and if you can't go to Stockholm, and you only have 10 days, I see no reason to see Copenhagen. I am sure rural Demark is pleasant (we were only in and around Copenhagen when there) but seeing any meaningful part of it will take 2-3 days away from the 7 you have left for the fjords in Norway. And the fjords are truly memorable, while elsewhere is mearly quaint.
I can offer some fjord country suggestions, but first I would need to know whether you were able to spend 2-3 days in that area, 4-5, or 6-7, because each option would be very different.
