What are my options for a day trip from bath to salisbury?
Check www.visitbath.co.uk - they list a number of tour companies and guides who can set something up for you.
Direct trains from Bath Spa station to Salisbury run at least every hour throughout the day, and about the same frequency coming back from Salisbury. Depending on which train you take the journey time ranges from 53 minutes to just over an hour, and an Off-peak day return ticket costs as little as £16.50 (09.36 departure or later from Bath, but £18.80 on the 08.35 or 09.07. Earlier trains are not Off-peak and cost £20.90 return). Those prices are available on the day and do not have to be booked in advance. For timetables use the journey planner at www.nationalrail.co.uk. Bath Spa station is a third of a mile from Bath Abbey. Salisbury station is three quarters of a mile from Salisbury Cathedral, and if that's too far to walk then there are taxis right outside.
Thanks, Kevin. Very helpful info.
