Hello all, I perused past posts for my topic to no avail, so I do apologize if this question has been asked and answered before. We (2 adults, one 5 year old) are traveling to Scotland and England in March of 2014, and looking to stay in a rustic, authentic, stone-wall type castle for a night (with running water though, please :) and I am having difficulty finding them. I have spent time on celticcastles.com as suggested, but most seem to be more like hotels than castles, or to just be modern hotel rooms with a castle facade. Perhaps it is my budget that is limiting my searches (under $250 or less a night) but I am just not sure. Our accommodations are flexible, and I am looking at castle hotels in Glasgow for a night, or Edinburgh, or around Carlisle. Is there a central booking system for rustic, budget castles? :) Any suggestions or direction would be appreciated. Thanks! Tami

Tami, I stayed at Stonefield Castle which is on the website that you mention. It's not medieval, but it's still a castle. Double check the rates to see if they include breakfast and dinner. I found that was the case for Stonefield. You might also check out the listings on VisitScotland. They may have greater variety. Pam

Tami: Visit Scotland and the National Trust for Scotland seem to have Castle accomodations....not in your price range...but they do offer camping in the parks of real Castles...try a farmhouse B & B instead for atmosphere.

We stayed in a number of wonderful castle hotels in Scotland. Our favorite in Rothes Glenn is now a private home, but we loved the Glengarry castle Hotel in Invergarry Scotland. it is not cheap but well situated and has a restaurant, Great location....I think quite reasonable for what it is.
