Royal Yacht Britannia

I am very excited about my upcoming visit, but I wonder just how good this exhibit / museum is... Can anyone offer their opinion based on experience? Should I temper my excitement a bit not to get too disappointed? Or is it really a great attraction? Thanks!

I loved it! When I arrived at the museum and saw that it was connected to a shopping mall, my heart sank and was ready for a tourist trap. But it was very well done. Perfectly preserved, and it's history well explained....all very tastefully done.

You will not be disappointed on a visit to the Britannia. It is a ship rather than a yacht. Everything on it remains exactly as it was when the royals used it. You can have tea there also-very nice. We took a taxi there (stayed near Holyrood Palace) and returned by bus. The botanical garden is worth a visit if you enjoy gardens.

I visited with my then 75+ year old parents and we all enjoyed it. I'll second the recommendation for the Gardens. Pam

It was well worth the time. It is a very nicely organized museum. We took a taxi both directions. We really enjoyed it. The Rolls Royce they took with them is even on board.

Where exactly is the Britannia located. We are going in October and would like to make this part of our Itinerary??

Ocean Terminal. Northeast Edinburgh. It's a couple of miles from center city.

There was a lot more to this exhibit than I had expected. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing everything from the uniforms, to the history, to the actual ship and secondary vessels. All done first class - of course! It really is a great attraction! I just took the regular bus from St James Centre down Leith Street to the location. The shopping mall has some merit also.

I liked the laundry. LOL. Also, the Queen's bedroom was surprisingly modest. The whole tour is very interesting. PAm
