Route 55 (high pass) between Lom & Sognefjord

I am wondering whether it is more scenic to drive from Lom along route 55 and down into the Sognefjord area or is the drive from Sognefjord up to Lom equally scenic. We plan to do this drive in one direction or another around May 22 or 23 of this year. Any advice or thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Velda
