Room in walking distance of Edinburgh Convention Centre

We will be in Edinburgh in September and need a room in walking distance of the Convention Centre. I am looking at a self-catering apartment on Morrison St. close to the intersection of Haymarket, W. Maitland, Dairy Rd and Morrison. This seems a bit far from the town center. I've also looked into apartments on King's Stables Lane, Greyfriars and Jeffrey Street. Is anyone familiar with these areas or have suggestions?

Greetings

That location would be only 15 minutes from the city centre and served by lots of buses. However, by then the construction for the trams may be down by Haymarket, so it could be fairly congested. It's also could be quite busy at night - right next to the train station and lots of pubs. So you'd want to be up a couple floors and to the back.

King's Stables Lane is convenient, however not the sunniest of locations and not for light sleepers (late night noise from non-sober people walking alone the lane). I would not recommend it for a lone woman, but fine for a couple. It's well located for sightseeing and the Convention Center. (via number two bus or on foot)

Greyfriars is a bit further away, but you can take the number 2 bus directly to the Convention Centre. It runs until about 9pm at night, after which it's a short taxi ride. Jeffrey Street is the furthest away a good 20-30 minute walk and no bus that really goes directly.

Thanks for the information; it is very helpful. I would love to stay at one of Rick's B&Bs off Dalkeith Road, but we need to be closer for meetings at the Convention Centre.
