Just be warned, the cheaper places seem to be selling out very quickly. I was booking a few weeks ago for July and August, and into August could not entirely get what I was after, and with LSE in July I had to do two different rooms as I could get just one for the stretch I wanted.

The sooner you book the better!

Try the Vandon in London. GREAT location. Dorm during the school year. Recommended in Rick Steves book. get a room with the toilet/shower down the hall and save lots. I have not been there, but you can see it pretty well on Google Maps

Deborah - Try Lancaster Hall, Lancaster-Hall-Hotel.co.uk. It is 2 short blocks north of Hyde Park and is quite nice. I'm not sure how much you want to spend but we found it inexpensive for London. Last fall it was 85 pounds for 2. Each room has 2 single beds and is ensuite. The breakfast was quite good. It is in a good location for tube stations. Have fun. When I was there in the summer a few years ago it was very hot. But you never know.

My last trip I booked it from Hotwire.com and got a 3 1/2 star hotel room for $110 per night. (that's dollars, not pounds).

Give hotwire a try.
