Romantic Accomodations day trip from London

My Fiance and I will be traveling to London as part of our honeymoon for a few days in December 2007. We would like to take a day trip from the city to a nearby town maybe somewhere like York, Windsor, Bath, etc. that has romantic accomodations, like in an old castle or something. Any Suggestions?

Jessica,
I would suggest Bath as a honeymoon location. There is something especially beautiful about the town, it has a 'Roman" feel to it. The Hot Bath spas would be wonderful also.

Jessica: I was confused by your question because you said you wanted to do a day trip to a place that has romantic accommodations? Do you want to just go for a day trip or do you want to sleep there in accommodations?

If you're looking at Bath then the obvious place is the Royal Crescent Hotel.

Or there is the Randolf Hotel in Oxford.

Be prepared, both are very pricy, but both can offer excellent four poster beds.

Have you thought about having a room with a four poster bed ? They are romantic and they don't necessarily have to cost the Earth.

Yes, we would love something romantic, but with the US $ so low I don't know how we can afford anything in the UK, it's depressing and somewhat embarrassing! We are also trying to find somewhere to stay in London. We want to go to bath, but would like to stay on like a farmhouse type of accomodation where we can get to know the family! Any suggestions, please send them my way!

Since the $ to £ exchange rate is so bad now, you should probably focus on getting lodging with a good price and handle the romance part yourselves. Castles are very expensive; staying on a farm is a good idea.
I'd suggest the Sanctuary House Hotel in London. Rates are £160 on weekdays and £110 on weekends. It's located very close to Westminster Abbey. Look at http://fullershotels.com/ for details.
Bath is nice, but in December I'd suggest spending a night in Stratford-upon-Avon. The town is a great place to visit during the Christmas season, even if you aren't into Shakespeare. Look at www.stratford-upon-avon.co.uk which lists all the lodging available in and near the town. Also take a peek at www.christmasinstratford.co.uk.
Hope everything is going well for you in the hometown of the Razorbacks. I'm a past resident of Fayetteville.
