Saw on Yahoo.uk where this will start 13 May. Sorry, I don't have the link as I caught the news while working at an exhibition.
More here, including strike dates: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/may/04/tube-strike-london-may-june I've been in London during a Tube strike. You really do need to make alternative plans.
What do you mean by alternate plans? For travel around London or don't go to London during a strike?
Oh joy, right in the middle of my travel dates. Barbara, what j.c. means by alternate plans is you may want to adjust your sightseeing plans on those days. Buses are still running, but they will be packed. Taxis are still a choice, but the queues will be long. Long distance rail is also an option. Alternate plans could mean allowing additional time to get places, reworking your sightseeing schedule around places where you can walk to, or changing hotels to one more conveniently located. Not all the tube drivers are represented by the same union, so you will likely want to look for more detail as dates approach.
Thanks for the clarification. Should only affect us getting to Heathrow from County Hall area for our flight home. We have been looking at car services, too. My husband found one that was only about 40 pounds but now we can't find it again. Any suggestions?
www.tfl.gov.uk is official tube site and if you can get to Paddington you could take either the Heathrow Express non stop pr the Heathrow Connect with local stops.
Reuters said the strikes are now called off:
"Following a meeting with the RMT leadership this morning the RMT have withdrawn their threat of industrial action, and we have avoided significant disruption for London," said London Underground Managing Director Mike Brown. "We are pleased to have secured agreement from the RMT leadership to jointly engage in an independent review of industrial disputes in London Underground." http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/05/10/uk-britain-underground-idUKTRE74924K20110510
