For those planning to drive in Scotland, the lovely but sometimes treacherous "Road to the Isles," The A-380 between Fort William and Mallaig, has finally been upgraded along its entire length to 2 lane standards. Those who have driven through this spectacular scenery as you head for the ferries for the outer Hebrides, will remember it was, over much of the last half, largely a one-lane highway with spots to pull over to allow oncoming traffic to get by....not for the faint of heart! Read details here.
Ah, but the wee roads of Scotland are so much fun to drive. Granted, however, they are only fun when the road is NOT clogged with traffic as this particularly road is. (It's the A830.) If you're like me and still want to drive the wee roads with passing places there are still plenty of opportunities to test your skills. You can always take the very long way around and take the A861. Pam
