Heading over to Ireland July 1 with my 20 year old son for his first trip to Ireland....we start with 2 days in Dublin than 4 days B&B vouchers and rental car. Want to visit Leitrim where my grandparents were wed, Galway, Cliffs of Moher and Dingle Peninsula if I can get it all in. Any preferred road routes to take? Should I head to Leitrim on way to Galway and then work our way down to Clare and Dingle then back to Dublin? Or head from Dublin down to Dingle and work my way up to Galway and Leitrim and then back to Dublin Wondering if there is any advantage to either approach.....really appreciate the feedback of folks who enjoy Ireland. Slainte! Thanks John Flynn
Since it's important to you to get to Leitrim, I would do that first, then go south. If you go to Dingle first you might find yourself with not enough time to get to Leitrim. If you hit it first and decide you don't have enough time to get to Dingle, there are plenty of great things to do and see on the way back to Dublin. You might find www.viamichelin.com helpful in plotting routes and seeing how far it is from one place to another. Add about 25% to their time estimates to get a more realistic idea of the time it really takes.
