Rick Steve's tour to Scotland

I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken this tour? I'm thinking about doing it next year. I've never been there before and plan to travel alone so I think it would be more fun in a group.

I've traveled to Scotland many times and I have to say that they pack a lot into the tour. Over the years I've visited all of these places except Clava Cairns and they are on my list to do. ; )

My only wish for this tour would be that it be 2-3 days longer so that you could catch your breadth and walk a little in the countryside. Also, you're missing Stirling Castle, which is one of my favorites, but that could be because there is some restoration going on right now.

So, if you've never been to Scotland and are looking for a tour to introduce you to the country, then this looks very good.

You should ask if there will be anything playing in the festival theater the night that you are in/near Pitlochry and if they advise trying to attend it. The walks near the hermitage are very nice. The Tay River is beautiful and you can walk in Birnam Woods of MacBeth fame.

Kathleen,

I haven't taken the RS Scotland tour, but if it's anything like his other tours, you'll have a great time!

I also travel "solo" and have taken three RS tours (so far), and they've all been fantastic. I usually combine them with some self-guided travel, either before or after the tour.

Happy travels!
