Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants in Reykjavik, Iceland? Fine dining is good but also really good local places that serve great food and where the locals go.
hi david, i just returned from a trip to reykjavik last month and, let me tell you, the food is unforgettable!! locals and tourists alike love every restaurant i list here. baejerins bestu, a hot dog stand by the harp concert center. its less than $5 for a hot dog with everything on it and a coke. kitchen eldhus is a nepalese restaurant that is ranked #5 of 174 restaurants on trip advisor reykjavik. the service was very slow but the food was worth the wait. it was definitely on the high end of our budget, but we only splurged once. tapas barinn was the first restaurant we visited when we arrived in iceland. the service was speedy and friendly. we ordered paella, a lamb skewer, a salmon skewer and dessert! i wanted to just keep going back to this restaurant - the menu seems endless - but my travel buddy preferred to try different places. saegreiffin the sea baron is an excellent excellent restaurant. its not fancy but the lobster soup is to die for!! we also had a shrimp skewer and it was equally delectable. have fun!
