Reykjavik in April

Icelandic air had a special and we dove in...now, have to think of an itinerary and things to do. We arrive early Friday AM on April 5 and depart back to the States Monday afternoon. Does anyone have any suggestions? Private tour company that might take us to the northern part of the island and take in the amazing sights? Any & all suggestions, thoughts, etc would be appreciated. We already have hotel in Reykjavik which we booked thru the airline. BTW, there are 4 of us in total.

Don, There is an excellent daytour that includes Thingvellir National Park, the geysers, etc.: it's called the Golden Circle Tour. Reykjavik Excursions is the main tour company: http://www.re.is/DayTours/GeysirandGeothermal/Detail/Golden-Circle/ Between doing the Golden Circle Tour, spending a day exploring Reykjavik, and detouring to the Blue Lagoon on your way back to the airport, your long week-end will end-up quite full. We spent a full week based out of Reykjavik and liked it very much. The morning we arrived, we started with a soak in the municipal thermal pools at Laugardalur, where we especially enjoyed the "hot pots". We ended up in a thermal pool everyday of that week, trying several of the public pools. BTW - seek out the hotdog vending truck, they serve lamb hotdogs.

Thanks for your suggestions. We will look into it. We are currently booked with Icelandic Air on an "off-road" tour...this trip is called Off ROAD Northern Lights...it includes air/hotel/the off road tour mentioned above/a lobster dinner (not sure how that fits in!).
Perhaps this tour you mentioned is a better idea.

It sounds like a neat tour, taking you along the south coast - there's beautiful scenery down that way (waterfalls, volcanos). Since it's a late-day tour (to see the Aurora Borealis), you can easily also do the Golden Circle tour the other day. Bring warm clothes.
