Reykjavic Layover 24 hours

Excited about bus to Blue Lagoon and the hotel. Anyh hotel/dinner/evening suggestions? Moderate budget. Is there an early morning bus back to airport? Don't see that mentioned anywhere. Thanks

There is hotel Clinic right on Blue Lagoon. There are cheaper hotels nearby but the price of hotel Clinic includes the entrance to the Blue Lagoon and consider also convenience. You can eat there, too. I don't know about moderate budget in Iceland. Be prepared that what is considered moderate in Iceland would be expensive somewhere else. Bus will bring you to the hotel but there is no bus to the airport early morning. You have to take taxi.

Pat, If you haven't gone yet I would do the Fly-bus to the Blue Lagoon, spend an hour or so there and then take the bus in to Reykjavik. From there they will transfer you to small bus that will take you to your hotel. You can drop your bag and have the whole day to see the city. The bus will pick you up and get you to the airport early in the morning. We stayed here and found it perfect. Low price ($100/night), clean, quiet, good breakfast and an easy walk to downtown. Rather than staying at the Blue Lagoon, I would do as suggested and just visit it, but sleep in Reykjavik itself. I would save money by sleeping in the Salvation Army Hostel, or else the Youth Hostel, or any "cheap" hotel in the city, or a private B&B for the best ratio of value to quality. But any of these places will be nice and clean. Any hotel listed in a regular guidebook is going to be so high quality that you will feel you are wasting too much money on it. Instead, ask there as to where you can get a traditional meal on a budget.
Also, note the comments in the other Iceland thread. Enjoy.
