Reuse Oyster 7-day travelcard?

Last fall I purchased a 7-day metro travelcard which was put on the Oyster card. I still have the Oyster card. This time I will only be in London 3 days. I'm guessing an Oyster card is an Oyster card and there isn't any difference between paying a deposit and getting one vs. getting the 7-day travelcard, but I figured I would ask.

Can I refill it? Or do I need to get a new one?

Yes, you can refill it. Just take it to any ticket machine or ticket counter and tell them what you want on it. It never expires, but if it is inactive for 2 years, you will have to have it reactivated.

Since you'll only be in London for 3 days, I would probably just put £15-20 on the card. OR forget the Oyster card and get a 3-day Zone 1-2 Travelcard for £17.40. This is a paper ticket as you can only get 7-day and longer travelcards loaded to Oyster.

If you are planning on staying in Zones 1-2, the maximum per day you will pay is £4.80 for off-peak (after 9:30) travel, or £6 for peak travel no matter how many tube journeys you take. If you are planning on doing a lot of walking and only use the tube a few times a day, put less on the card.

Jennifer,

Like kelly, our travel card was not paper but placed on an Oyster card. So she has the choice of adding funds to it, or getting another oyster.

Kelly: if you decide to get another travel card, just get it there. There's no deposit fee for a T.C.
But if you jsut want to top if off with 10-15 pounds, then bring the old card.
