At the end of "Scandinavia in 14 Days" you suggest returning to USA from Copenhagen - why not Stockholm where the tour started? It seems just as close to Bergen.
Maybe because Copenhagen Aiport is bigger than Stockholm-Arlanda Airport and has more direct connections to the US?
From Stockholm, there are direct flights to the following US airports:
Newark on Continental and SAS
New York JFK on Delta (from 28 May)
Chicago on SAS
From Copenhagen, there are direct flights to the following US airports:
Toronto on Air Canada (From 25 June) - OK, this is not in the US, I admit!
Newark on Continental and SAS
New York JFK on Delta (from 28 May)
Atlanta on Delta
Chicago on SAS
Washington-Dulles on SAS
I'm planning a baltic tour this year. Copenhagen is cheaper and significantly more convenient because you can get direct flights to/from the US (saving a couple hundred per ticket and hours of flying/layover time).
I had toyed with making a least one leg of my open-jaw route into or out of Stockholm but doubt now that I will choose that option.
To get to Palos Verdes will be a long flight anyway. Saving three to five hours off the trip is worth flying home from Copenhagen.
It is true that there are more direct flights to the States from Copenhagen.
However, since you don't live in one of the cities that SAS serves (e.g. Washington, Newark, Chicago, etc.), I'm not sure that it matters much whether you fly from Copenhagen or Stockholm. You are going to have to transfer somewhere. When I lived in Stockholm, I was typically routed through either London (on BA or SAS/United) or Frankfurt (Star Alliance - SAS, Lufthansa, and/or United) when flying back to DC.
You may want to look at pricing options from Stockholm, Copenhagen, or even from Bergen.
