Even though I go to London pretty much every year, we tend to go back to the same restaurants that we enjoy. This time, when we go in June, we'd like to try a couple of new places - does anyone have a favorite or two, especially for a Sunday roast! Thanks all.
St. John for sure. Nothing like it.
Sue, It's not "Sunday Roast" but one of my favourite restaurants in London is Santini (29 Ebury Street, near Victoria station). Great Italian food! You could also try one of Jamie Oliver's restaurants (the flagship Fifteen restaurant will be re-opening in late April). Cheers!
If you want something fancy and not cheap, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal was quite an experience. It was our honeymoon, so we splurged a bit,mso this may not be for you. I had to throw it out there, though!
The Criterion in the theatre district is a beautiful restaurant. The interior is covered in mosaics; the food is excellent...... We also enjoyed dinner at the National Portrait Gallery which has a view of the skyline - they are only open for dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
I like Vinoteca. It is a wine bar that has very good food and I think it is also an excellent value. The original location is in Farringdon, but a couple of years ago, they opened one in Marylebone and last year they opened one in Soho. I've been to all of them. The menu changes daily. I don't know if they do roast on Sunday. Ottolenghi is my absolute favorite place, but it is mostly for takeaway. The Islington location does have tables. They have gorgeous and delicious salads and baked goods. The same people also operate the restaurant, Nopi. I love the food at Nopi but it is a little pricey. It is not a Sunday roast place.
We also went to a chain pie and mash shop, Mother Mash, which was fun if you like that kind of food. There are a couple but the one we went to was near Carnaby St. they give you a bunch of options for types of sausage, mash, and sauce and let you build your own.
Geale's for fish & chips; orig shop in Notting Hill and new one in Chelsea----their website has good maps & directions to both locations
Thanks for the great suggetions, they all look good, gonna check out as many as possible!
