Try the restaurant row along Stranden (on the harbor, opposite from the Akershus complex). It serves much the same fucntion as Nyhavn in Copenhagen, but the buildings are more modern.

In Bergen, you might enjoy Cafe Opera. It's sort of a student hangout, but it has good food. It's not too far to walk from the harbor area.
