My wife and I are traveling to England this summer and will be renting a car for approximately 2 weeks. Looking online, Autoeurope has much better prices than National or Avis. Is this because they are unreliable or just more streamlined? Is there a better local UK rental agency that anyone is aware of?
I have rented from AutoEurope on three different occasions and always been satisfied. They are a broker and as such do not have their own cars but the rental is through one of the major companies. I have had cars from Avis twice and Hertz once. There also seems to be no hidden fees. The price I was quoted was the price I paid.
Like Pat, I also had a good experience. No surprises.
I used 1car1.com last October. Great rates, full disclosure, pick up and delivery from hotel, NY based customer service in case you want to talk to someone about a reservation. They do not have locations everywhere in UK, but it might be worth a look.
We used Autoeurope a few years ago; no problem. We have also used Alamo/National with no problem.
I've rented through AutoEurope and have been well satisfied. In Ireland my car was from Budget and in France it was from Europcar.
AutoEurope will either match or beat any rate you find on your own. Even if you like what you see on the AE site, call and ask about any special deals that don't appear online.
Like all other posters I too have had good luck w/ autoeurope. and you pay in dollars usually.
