Rentals in England

My husband and I are trying to plan our next vacation to England, probably March or April 2008. We plan on spending 7-11 days in one general area and taking day trips and seeing the area around where we are staying. We are considering renting a flat, cottage, etc to spend the week instead of staying in a hotel. Can anyone recommend a company or websites that I could check into for this?

Thanks!

The National Trust rents out several hundred of their properties, and the rates aren't that bad in March & April. Most are rented for a week and some for as few as 3 days.
You can check out and book stays through their National Trust holiday cottages website at www.nationaltrustcottages.co.uk.

We have stayed in many old cottages in the UK, most in England, over the past several years. The older ones (often 200 or 300 years old) are full of character and the price is far less than a nice hotel. You can save $$ by eating breakfast and some dinners in. Most include bed linen and towels and many will have a washer/dryer. It's a great way to really get to know an area, but you will probably find that you need a car. Just google "self catering cottage England" and quite a few agencies will be on the list. Manor Cottages is very good for the Cotswold area and English Country Cottages has places all over England. Good luck and have a wonderful trip!
