Against Steve's advice we will be driving in Dublin, but on a Sunday, so I hope it won't be too bad. My question is: where is a supervised car park in central Dublin that opens before noon? Can't seem to find one. Also, are there cigarette lighter/chargers in rental cars in Ireland, and do they accept the same inputs as in the USA so we can charge our mobile phones, iPods, cameras, etc? Thanks in advance for any advice?
Lighters, maybe not; socket yes, and it works fine. Dublin driving isn't that hard, just a bit tedius. Park near the river on either side and on the street and you'll be fine.
Several years ago, we had car in Dublin and parked near the main bus/train station on a side street and then just took bus into the center of town and was very easy.
St Stephens Green Shopping Centre has a parking deck. Not sure when it opens on a Sunday, though. The shopping center is at the end of Grafton St, right in the heart of town.
Just returned from Ireland on May 18. Parked at Blanchardstown Shopping Mall on the outskirts of Dublin, rode the city bus to/from Dublin. Easy drive to/from the mall, free parking, short bus ride to town. Did the same thing in May 2009.
We found little Sunday morning traffic, lots of street parking. Why do you need supervised parking? Car to young to be left by it self? yukyuk Standard outlets, even in rental cars.
Thanks for all your responses. Glad to hear about the car chargers. We need supervised car parking as we arrive in Dublin early in the morning. We will be staying that night in Wicklow Co. and our luggage will be left in the car during that day in Dublin.
