I will be by myself for a trip to Hampshire & would ideally like to rent a room for 2 weeks. A B&B might work if they had single rooms, but I am really looking to save money. I'd stay in a Hostel sort of place if I had my own room. Am I asking for too much?
Many hostels have single rooms, often cheaper than for a B&B. Go to www.hostelworld.com, choose a town (Brighton? Portsmouth?) and check out what is available. Hostelworld also has listings for budget hotels. From many towns in Hampshire there is bus and rail transportation available to London and other places in Southern England for daytrips. To save money use National Express coaches (buses). They have a website and you can buy discounted tickets in advance. Another possible money-saver is the railpass (sold in the US) for southern England.
Thank you, "Swan"!
