My son and two friends will be in Belfast for two nights in June and cannot afford very much in the way of lodging. Any suggestions for a hostel or inexpensive hotel or B&B? I've read some hostel reviews that have made me cringe so I'm especially wondering if you have had good or bad experiences at a certain hostel? Thanks.
You'll have to check on availability for June as I'm not sure when they start renting rooms to tourists, but I've gotten a cheap room at Queen's University in Belfast (which includes a full hot breakfast daily).
It's about a 10 minute bus ride to the train/bus station from the campus. The rooms are very clean - some are en suite. They will also have access to coin-op laundry right on campus.
I stayed at Paddy's Palace in Derry, but the same owners also operate hostels in Belfast, Cork, Dublin & Killarney. They ran a clean operation in Derry and the price included a continental breakfast.
