Greetings again
To save money and try to "live like a local" I would like to rent a flat for 8 or 9 nights with our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 boys ages 15 and 9) in the Kensington or Chelsea neighborhoods. Can anyone out there recommend an agency that is legitimate (I've heard there are scammers out there!) Any recommendations on a centrally located neighborhood close to action yet far enough away to "live like a local" near a grocary store, pubs and parks?? Thank you!
There are several reliable agencies. Three well-known ones are: Ivy Lettings: http://ivylettings.com/ London Connection: http://www.londonconnection.com/main_menu.asp Farnum and Christ: http://farnum-christ.com/ If you want a reliable apartment listing site, there are several of those as well. Keep in mind that the apartments are individually owned, and some owners may misrepresent their apartments. In general, though, most people have had good luck with: VRBO: http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/europe/england/london Their other site, Homeaway: http://goo.gl/cWdN9 Both VRBO and Homeaway have rental guarantee insurance you can purchase. Also take a look at Homelidays: http://www.homelidays.co.uk/EN-Holidays-Rental/uk_angleterre_greater_london_uk/appar_london_r13.asp Holiday Lettings: http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/greater-london/
You might also try London Coach House Rentals. We used them last September and were very pleased. http://www.rentals.chslondon.com/ Have a wonderful time!
We have had great luck with VRBO on several trips. When we used them for London the one we eventually decided on was in the Kensington are and with Londonconnection, as previously mentioned. Have a great trip. Mike
We used Coach House Rentals and had a beautiful apartment. Since then, I noticed that the apt. we rented is also listed on vrbo.com. It was a 3 bedroom in Kensington, right by Holland Park. A wonderful area for food, shopping and a nearby tube stop.
