Will be in Edinburgh in Sept and we are looking for a budget b & b. Have considered Battery House and Airdenair. Has anybody stayed at these or does anyone have another recommendation? Can be a homestay or farmstay. We're up for that as well. Thanks
How many people are in your party? We rented a great apartment for our group of 4, but it is only economical if you are in a party of 4 or more...we loved Edinburgh.

not just hostels, great prices
In 2000, two of us stayed at the Halcyon hotel, which was a short walk from the end of Princes Street and Holyrood Palace. The owner was nice and we would stay there again.
I will be there in July (for the deathly hallows release! wooh, harry potter fans unite!) and will be staying in the kenvie guesthouse (google it). A great find, and a moderate-ly cheap rates!
We have stayed at Airdenair twice. Doug and Jill are great hosts. We had the same room both times and it overlooked the back garden where we saw a fox one morning. .
Just as Quinn mentioned, I stayed at the Kenvie Guesthouse http://www.kenvie.co.uk/ in 1999. Very nice, clean, quiet residential street. Quite a hike to the city center, though, unless you like to spend your time walking. However, all buses lead to the city center, perhaps a 5 - 10 minute ride. Great way to meet locals. I remember it being quite reasonable, too. Good luck,
Thanks for all your comments. We will be staying at the kenvie house. It might be a good thing that it is a hike since we'll have to make up for the food we'll be eating. :)
